Access to the collection is by appointment only, so please contact the Collections Manager in advance of a planned visit. Desk space and microscopic equipment are available and most supplies associated with basic morphological study can be provided. Visitors may also make use of the extensive library facilities within the museum and around campus. Please also note our loan policies and procedures.
The Essig Museum can offer a small amount of travel support from the Margaret Walker Fund. Details about eligibility and requirements are available on the Visiting Taxonomists Grant website.
There are several hotels of varying price ranges located along University Avenue in Berkeley, and many more in the surrounding areas, including the Women’s Faculty Club in the center of campus and the Berkeley City Club abutting campus. Search the web for accommodations in Berkeley or in the East Bay, or contact the Collection Manager for current recommendations.
