Dr. Lisa Kala (BA 1978 Psychology; PhD 1993 Education) and Dr. Vernard Lewis (BS 1975 Agricultural Sciences; MS 1979, PhD 1989 Entomology) are pillars of the UC Berkeley community. While Vernard engaged in many entomological topics throughout his career, he is best known to Pest Management Professionals (PMP Hall of Fame inductee 2016) for his work in termites and other insects found in homes. Though “retired”, Vernard continues to consult on urban entomology projects and hosts an annual Termite Academy at UC Berkeley.
