Essig Museum Expansion

In 2025 the Essig Museum will be expanding its footprint within the Valley Life Science Building (VLSB). Our current location (1170 VLSB) is down a long hallway behind the UC Museum of Paleontology. In the coming year will we add new space for collections, teaching, and outreach next to the Tyrannosaurus rex in 1005-1007 VLSB. This new space will greatly increase our visibility and provide long needed space for research activities and our ever expanding collections.

We are in the process of writing a NSF “Collections Improvement” grant to install compacting specimen cabinets, display drawers, and furnishings to include a small conference area and a separate imaging room where we can better control dust and environmental conditions. There will also be ample space to host meetings and provide bench space for visiting researchers.
