Collection Databases
A database effort is underway by the staff to document the holdings of the museum. A species list of the entire pinned collection, and parts of the slide and fluid collections (>49,000 records), is available for querying, as are 41,000 specimen-level records of the Primary Type Collection, Ephemeroptera, Tephritidae (Diptera), and parts of the Aphididae (Hemiptera), Coleoptera, Hymenoptera (Parasitica), Trichoptera, and Araneae (Arachnida). The specimen records are being georeferenced and distribution maps can be generated.
These lists are continually being built, edited and updated. Please report any errors (including mispellings, synonymies, author names and years, revised taxonomy, etc.) to the Collection Manager. When possible, please cite a published reference regarding the error or revised taxonomy.
